Two bands – two new singles.
Simon London + the Spirits launch their latest single Post Haste – a gem dug from the archives of the Thirty Mill sessions in Melbourne, while Tammy London launches her debut single Mustang with her new band – the first release of a bunch of songs produced in Nashville.
TAMMY LONDON – MUSTANG
Tammy London has been part of the music scene for years, but she hits the accelerator with her first solo single, Mustang — a track that celebrates freedom and the power of doing something just for you.
“I have a long history of loving old cars,” Tammy said.
“Who doesn’t love a really old Mustang? The ones from the 1960s and 1970s — they’re pretty good-looking cars.”
Produced by Nash Chambers, Mustang uses the classic car as a symbol of escape — a way to break free from the grind and get out of town, both literally and metaphorically.
Bringing Mustang to life is the cream of session players, including Mark Punch on electric guitars, Jeff McCormack on bass, Syd Green on drums, and Jimmy Wallace on Hammond organ.
Tammy previously performed and recorded with her husband Simon and as part of The Red Tails, but Mustang marks her first release as a solo artist.
“It’s too easy for people to think it’s too hard to get away,” she said.
“But that freedom is within grasp. Mustang is a reminder to find something that you love doing — and have a bit of fun.”
Tammy will hit the stage with her band at 8:30.

SIMON LONDON + THE SPIRITS: POST HASTE
A gem pulled from the archives, Post Haste was recorded in Thirty Mill studios in an earlier iteration of the Spirits’ lineup way back in around 2005.
In between east-coast shows, Simon holed up for a couple of days at the Melbourne studio with drummer Tim Stacey to capture some of the many songs he had kicking around at the time. Many never saw light of day, often for no good reason other than just being too busy on the road to get all the recordings out to the wider world.
“We were actually given some free studio time from Thirty Mill, which was a massive help at the time. I had a bunch of songs written on the acoustic guitar that I hadn’t done anything with, so with Tim Stacey, our drummer at the time, we lobbed in there after some tour dates and tracked half a dozen songs in a couple of days.” explained Simon.
“But it wasn’t until I was looking for some stuff on an old hard drive that I actually had a listen and thought, I should really do something with this. And Post Haste was always a favourite for some reason, so I sent it over to James (Newhouse) to mix,” said Simon.
With the last strains of their last album ‘Don’t You Forget About Me‘ still ringing out and their anticipated fifth album due later this year, looking back briefly and releasing some of the archival material seemed like good timing.
Simon London + the Spirits will play an extended show from 9:30 through to that 11 pm noise curfew.
Entry is free.
