From the building site to a bicycle-powered comedy tour
Originally from Waterford, Ireland, Ian spent years working in construction by day and performing comedy at night. After losing his job following a few viral videos, he decided to commit to stand-up full time. His next move was hardly a conventional career plan: get on a bicycle for the first time in a decade and take his show around Australia.
The result is On Ya Bike Kant!, a tour built around 16,000 kilometres on a bike and 46 shows with a mic. Between performances, Ian is travelling, meeting locals and documenting the experience online. The journey gives the tour a story that continues well beyond the stage.
For the Ian Dowling Albany stop, expect an evening shaped by the misadventures of an Irish arrival finding his place in Australia. His material moves from the Catholic guilt of his Waterford upbringing to the blunders, surprises and culture clashes of life down under. The language is coarse, the stories are unfiltered and the show is aimed squarely at adults.
Comedy with a cause: supporting Orange Sky
Alongside the laughs and long days in the saddle, the tour is raising money for Orange Sky, which supports people experiencing homelessness in Australia. The poster proudly carries the charity’s name, and Ian shares a donation link through his official website.
If you would like to follow the fundraising side of the journey, visit Ian Dowling’s official website for his current tour and donation links. Ticket booking and optional donations are separate actions, so use TryBooking for your Albany seat and Ian’s website for details about supporting the cause.
