Albany maritime singalong: when and where

• Artist: Shantymen
• Venue: Six Degrees Goldroom, 70 Stirling Terrace, Albany WA

Meet the voices behind the songs

The Albany Shantymen are closely associated with the city’s maritime music scene. The appeal lies in the sound of people singing together: individual lines, joined choruses and stories shaped by life around the sea. It is music that invites attentive listening while keeping a strong sense of company in the room.

Visit the Albany Shantymen official website to explore the group before the show. If you are introducing friends to the music, sharing a recording is a useful way to explain the sound. You do not need to memorise lyrics or know the history of every song to enjoy the evening.

Watch a Shantymen performance

The group’s Seas of Albany performance provides an introduction to their voices and maritime repertoire. It is a taste of the artist, not a confirmation of the songs that will be performed on 17 November.

A later November date for your calendar

This Albany maritime singalong takes place two weeks after the group’s 3 November session at Six Degrees. If the earlier date did not work for you, the 17 November performance gives you another advertised opportunity to attend this month. Make sure the correct poster is in the message you send to friends.

The Tuesday timing makes this a different sort of night out from a late weekend gig. The advertised 90-minute session leaves room to meet beforehand and still plan around the scheduled 9:00 pm finish. Set your phone calendar to Albany local time, particularly if you are visiting Western Australia from elsewhere.

Plan your Albany maritime singalong visit

Decide on a meeting time before setting off. If you want to eat together, give the meal its own place in the plan rather than treating the music start as your dinner arrival time. Check current dining arrangements with the venue when coordinating a larger group or any special requirements.

Free entry covers the advertised admission charge. It does not include meals, drinks or an overnight stay, and it should not be treated as a reserved table. For seating, access and entry questions, use the Six Degrees contact page to ask the venue directly.

Find Six Degrees in central Albany

The Goldroom is at Six Degrees on Stirling Terrace. Allow enough time to make your way into town, find the venue and settle in before 7:30 pm. Visitors spending the day further along the coast can make the performance the final stop of their day’s itinerary.

An Albany maritime singalong is an opportunity to experience the city through its live music as well as its scenery. Bring a friend who enjoys vocal music, come with fellow travellers, or simply make time to listen. The shared focus is the performance, and newcomers can discover the group at their own pace.
